City of Duquesne’s Fire Hydrant Replacement Project (CD32-3.3)
Scope of Work
Price includes cost of removal of existing hydrant and valve, supply, and installation of new 6” resilient wedge valve and hydrant, pipe, couplings, extension risers, connection to existing pope, excavation, backfill, blocking, sidewalk, and street restoration as necessary to do a complete job. Hydrants to be as Mueller “Centurion” or equal. Hydrants to have 2 ½ hose nozzle threads 6 an inch, 0.216 deep, 1 ¼” operating nut and 4 ½” pumper connection with nozzle threads 4 to an inch, 0.325 deep. Street restoration to match existing type. Asphalt to be 4” Binder, 1.5” Wearing, edges sealed with J-1 sealer. Concrete to be 6” fiber or wire mesh reinforced Class A concrete with expansion material on edges and sealed with concrete sealer. Brick to match existing color and hardness and include a 4” concrete base and sand swept between the bricks. All backfill to be 2A stone.
City crews will assist with the shut down of water however the City accepts no responsibility for time delays due to shutdown problems. Please be aware shut doen may not be 100%, contractor may have to work with some water leaking through. Traffic control will be the responsibility of the contractor. Contractor is responsible for obtaining street opening permits from the City Building Inspector prior to starting work at contractor’s cost.
